Planet Walk

The Anchorage Light Speed Planet Walk is a scale model of our solar system. Taking the walk, you experience the relative size of the planets and their distance from the Sun. On this scale, each step equals the distance light travels in one second (300,000 kilometers or 186,000 miles).

The Anchorage Light Speed Planet Walk was designed by Eli Menaker, a 2004 graduate of Service High School in Anchorage.

I painted each of the planets on a scaled orb to recreate how the planets appear through a telescope, with careful review by Menaker. I used acrylic paint which was then sealed to withstand sun and weather.
